City Endorses Saul Maneiro →
If you are registered to vote in Rochester, make sure to check out Saul Maneiro for County Legislature. I know I’ll be voting for him. Don’t know many people who are kinder and more involved in the community (I’m going to start calling him the Mayor because I see him everywhere).

Female Vets Navigate Post-War Stress →
As I watched (and heard) ROTC training in the quad the past couple days at the university, I can’t help but think about veterans and trauma. This article from NPR is part of a series examining woman-specific post traumatic stress and the realities of returning to “civilian life.” Most outraging to me are the number of unreported sexual assaults, some of them happening multiple...

Good News for Trans Veterans →
The Veterans Administration recently released a new health care directive: “Providing Health Care for Transgender and Intersex Veterans.” I’d say this is one more step forward in providing comprehensive, patient-sensitive health care to all individuals. In addition, this type of publication further acknowledges the diversity of human experience, particularly trans-gender...

Being able to queue posts so you don’t look like an addict to analyzing pop culture, sharing your probably unoriginal opinions on social justice with the masses (and the self-importance it lends), and reblogging cute comics is really awesome. Oh shit I gave away my new secret.

My vegan [or, being a respectful person] rant...
…which can also be applied to anytime someone asks you in an innappropriate way why you are vegan/what it’s like to be queer/any other question that is serves as a backhanded attack on your identity. Last night I went to a show (where an awesome riot grrrly band named Ninjessa play) and there was some downtime between bands, as often happens. A few of us, probably 10, were sitting in...

Having weekends off
Cheerfully cooking my garlic and sundried tomatoes from the market with the sun shiny shining hot on the kitchen floor and that feeling of not wanting to be anywhere else but where I am. Well or maybe running around the outside of my house because I love everything and am happy and at peace. Too long sentences communicate excitement better sometimes.
