Just gave a very simplified lecture on systems of oppression to a 9 yr old. Gotta love the stuff privileged families teach their kids.

Yeah we feminists are pretty great.
In roughly an hour and fifteen minutes I start at the Monroe&Oxford store. I know it sounds lame, but I am kinda nervous. I often get super worried before I go do something or go to somewhere new. I think it’s just that I am always afraid of messing up. Which is irrational. I mean, really. It makes no sense.

South Africa Lags in Battle Against HIV →
ICheck out the article, linked above.
It’s still a wonder to many that countries lacking resources, like Botswana, have really made strides in prevention and treatment of HIV, but massive South Africa still falters. Actually, it is only a wonder from first glance - it’s far more complicated than an American’s quick glance over the subject. I think it would take too much...
Tonight/tomorrow morning's to do list:
Organize internship materials. WMS Club event brainstorming. Write letters (grandma, Scott, Charlie). QUESADILLAS. Sleep.
Lately I feel my physical adulthood hard. Late nights with little sleep take their toll. I have a feeling I won’t get anything done tonight, but there is always the morning. I think I need to get a calendar. I think I need to learn how to organize.

I think a lot these days about autobiography and personal narrative. How our stories are always changing, and how we make sense out of and must reconcile and balance our past experiences with our present identities.
I think about it this weekend (with the closing of Rochester Pride festivities) and wonder how this storytelling that we share with ourselves and those we meet is linked to the...
Here’s to feeling like you are sixteen! Funny how people just show up in your life, eh?
I can’t help but feel everything all at once. I’m pretty sure that if I didn’t feel so intensely I wouldn’t know how to live.

Feminism 101
samanthabales:
It’s really simple.
Start making a conscious effort to see women as people.
That’s it.
Don’t see them as “women.” Don’t start off your thought process about an individual woman by thinking of her as a member of Class Woman. Women aren’t “crazy.” They don’t all want one set of things. You can’t try to “understand [all] women.” You shouldn’t generalize them. You can’t draw...
You can always know you’ve met a good person if it happened because of books. I swear by this!
